Review highlights
Based on 5,866 reviewsJalao, located in Santo Domingo’s vibrant La Zona Colonial, is frequently praised for its appealing atmosphere, attractive interior design, and convenient location near local landmarks. Guests often highlight the quality of the food and drink options, with some mentioning standout dishes and live music enhancing the dining experience. However, service quality receives mixed feedback; while some reviewers commend attentive and friendly staff, others report inconsistent or indifferent service that detracts from the overall visit. Although the restaurant's ambiance and setting are consistently viewed as strengths, there is room for improvement in food consistency and customer service to fully meet visitor expectations.
Not too bad, local food - very nice interior design, and drink options. Highly recommend as it is right across from the church, with reasonable prices too.
Food and drinks were delicious. The place it’s absolutely stunning with great atmosphere, unfortunately the service I received was poor. The waiter came to our table and didn’t even greet us, and had an attitude the entire time. The customer service culture in the DR must improve, some waitresses and waiters are acting like the own the place.
This restaurant is in La Zona Colonial, while the location is perfect. The service is lacking. I had to seek assistance several times, and the food was just ok. It is a very big and beautiful restaurant though with good music. If they could improve their service and quality of food it would be a great place to visit
This is in a lovely location, in the colonial zone with lots of fun activity. Apparently there's live music later on but we were there early (5:30pm) The service was excellent, we had a sandwich, which was fine, but the fries were very good. We also had the sancocho, which was also good. Dessert was a coconut cake with ice cream and strawberries which was nice.
Gets a little crowded at the entrance, but once inside (depending on the time, for us it was 9:15 p.m.) you're greeted to live music, great food and service... nice atmosphere...
